Positions: Lecturer

Dates:  2013 Academic Year Quarters

  • Winter Quarter — January 2, 2013 to March 22, 2013
  • Spring Quarter — March 27, 2012 to June 14, 2013

Responsibilities: Undergraduate courses in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, journalism, or  the graphic novel, including workshops and literature-based courses in craft.  Active program of creative activity.

Qualifications: Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing or equivalent. Experience teaching courses in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, journalism, or the graphic novel.  Preference will be given to persons having previous experience teaching at the university level.

Salary:  $5,057.25 for the one quarter, pending budgetary approval.

The Department of Creative Writing at the University of California, Riverside seeks to make a tenure-track appointment in Fiction with secondary specialties in Historical Fiction and Narratology. Position includes undergraduate and graduate teaching, 4.5 courses per year on the quarter system, thesis supervision and standard non-teaching duties. Requirements: MFA or equivalent, at least one full-length book, strong teaching experience. The successful candidate must be committed to teaching effectively at all levels, including graduate mentoring. Salary commensurate with education and experience. Position begins July 1, 2013.
